Day 1: Kruja & Shkodra
Start point: Your tour guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel in Tirana, or in the airport, and you will begin the journey toward Krujë.
The tour starts with a visit to the historic Krujë Bazaar, one of Albania’s oldest traditional markets, dating back over 500 years. Built in classic Ottoman style, the bazaar connects the town center with Krujë Castle through a charming stone-paved street. Along the way, you will find small wooden shops offering handmade crafts, souvenirs, and local products.
Following the bazaar, you will enter Krujë Castle, Skanderbeg’s historic stronghold and a symbol of more than 1,500 years of Albanian history. A guided walk inside the castle grounds reveals important sites such as:

After exploring the castle, continue driving up Krujë Mountain to reach the Sari Salltik Cave. This sacred site is an important place of worship for the Bektashi community and offers breathtaking panoramic views, stretching across Tirana, Krujë, Durrës, and the Adriatic Sea.
After lunch, continue north to Shkodër, one of Albania’s oldest and most cultural cities. Your first stop will be Rozafa Castle, where over 2,000 years of history are preserved within its ancient walls. Enjoy a guided walk through the castle and its museum while taking in stunning views of the surrounding rivers and lake.
Following the castle visit, head to the city center to relax with a coffee or beer along Shkodër’s well-known promenade. The day concludes with an overnight stay in Shkodër, often referred to as the cultural capital of northern Albania.
Day 2: Shkodra → Theth National Park → Shkodra
The Alpine Gateway: Shkodër to the Heart of Theth Our journey begins in Shkodër, heading straight into the wild landscapes of the North. As we leave the city behind, you’ll be surrounded by the beauty of Shkodër Lake, winding rivers, and the rising peaks of the “Accursed Mountains.”
The Lavender High-Pass As the road climbs toward Qafa e Thores (1,700 m), the air becomes crisp and the scenery more remote. This region is a natural garden; if you travel in May or June, you’ll drive through fields of blooming purple lavender that fill the air with their scent. We’ll stop at the top of the pass for a panoramic view—this is the perfect spot for photos, where the entire mountain range stretches out before you.
The Living History of Theth Once we reach the valley floor, we step back in time. We’ll visit the iconic Stone Church of Theth and the legendary “Lock-in” Tower, symbols of the ancient traditions and highlander culture that have survived here for centuries. After a day of exploring the village soul, we will head back to Shkodër for a relaxing overnight stay.

Day 3: Shkodra → Berat City and winery
Today begins with a visit to one of the leading slow-food agrotourism farms in the Balkans. Enjoy a guided walk around the farm while learning its inspiring story and how this family-run project has created employment for hundreds of people in the surrounding area. The farm specializes in collecting, processing, and preserving organic local products, using restored former communist-era buildings as storage facilities. You’ll have free time to enjoy a traditional lunch or purchase fresh farm products.
In the afternoon, continue to Berat, famously known as the “City of a Thousand Windows” and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through its narrow stone streets and admire the unique Ottoman-era houses rising one above another. Founded in antiquity as an Illyrian settlement and later developed into the castle city of Antipatrea, Berat is unique for having residents still living within its historic fortress.
The city offers a rich blend of history and culture, with a majestic medieval castle, historic churches and mosques, charming neighborhoods, an old stone bridge, important museums, and visible traces of Albania’s communist past. Berat is also the birthplace of Onufri, the renowned icon painter known for his distinctive red tones. Day 4: Berat → Gjirokastra
Gjirokastër – A Journey Through Stone and Time
Travel into the heart of southern Albania to discover Gjirokastër, a city where history is carved into stone. Resting beneath the broad slopes of Mali i Gjerë, this UNESCO-listed destination reveals a striking landscape of slate-roofed houses, winding lanes, and a skyline shaped by centuries of tradition.
Begin your experience by immersing yourself in the old town, where life moves slowly along cobbled streets lined with traditional homes and small artisan shops. Here, craftsmanship and daily life blend naturally, offering an authentic glimpse into the city’s enduring character. Step inside a preserved historic residence to understand how families once lived within these stone walls.
High above the town, the imposing Gjirokastër Fortress stands as a silent guardian of the valley. With origins dating back over 1,600 years, the castle reflects the city’s strategic importance and long-standing resilience, making it one of the most remarkable historic sites in the Balkans.
Gjirokastër is also a place of living culture. Music, storytelling, and folklore remain deeply rooted in daily life, reaching their peak during the city’s renowned national folklore celebrations, held every five years within the castle grounds.
To conclude the day, step beyond the city into the peaceful countryside for a visit to a family-owned vineyard, where rolling hills and open landscapes create the perfect setting to relax. Enjoy free time to taste local flavors, sip regional wine, or simply take in the scenery.

Day 5: Gjirokastra → Blue Eye → Ksamil→ Butrint
From Gjirokastër to Sarandë – Nature, Sea & Ancient History
Leaving Gjirokastër, the journey continues south through a landscape of forests and valleys until reaching one of Albania’s most captivating natural sights — the Blue Eye. Hidden among dense greenery, this powerful freshwater spring rises from deep beneath the earth, forming an intense blue pool that seems almost unreal. Fed by underground sources from the nearby mountains, the water remains icy cold year-round, creating a striking contrast between color and temperature. The clarity and depth of the spring make it a truly unforgettable stop.
The route then leads toward the coast and the crystal-clear waters of Ksamil. Often described as the jewel of the Albanian Riviera, Ksamil welcomes visitors with soft white beaches and views of small islands scattered just offshore. The calm turquoise sea and relaxed atmosphere give the area a tropical feel, making it an ideal place to unwind, swim, or simply enjoy the seaside scenery.
In the afternoon, continue to the Butrint National Park, Albania’s most significant archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by wetlands and forests, the ancient ruins reveal layers of history shaped by Illyrian, Greek, Roman, and Byzantine civilizations. Walking through this open-air museum, nature and history blend seamlessly, offering a powerful sense of time and place.
The day concludes along the Ionian coast with an overnight stay in Sarandë, a lively seaside town overlooking the deep blue sea.
Day 6: Albanian Riviera → Himare → Dhermi → Vlora
Today’s journey begins along the breathtaking Albanian Riviera, where the road itself is part of the experience. As you travel toward Himarë, enjoy panoramic views of the Ionian Sea meeting dramatic mountain landscapes covered in lush greenery.
Arriving in Himarë, take time to enjoy the relaxed coastal atmosphere. A stroll along the seaside promenade offers the chance to taste local flavors influenced by Mediterranean traditions, refresh yourself with fresh fruit juices, and browse handmade souvenirs from local artisans.
The visit continues uphill to Himarë Castle, set high above the coastline. From this strategic viewpoint, enjoy wide-open views across the Ionian Sea while learning about the many cultures that have shaped the area over the centuries. Nearby, explore the Old Village of Himarë, where stone houses, narrow lanes, and small historic churches reflect the region’s traditional coastal lifestyle.
Later, continue south to Dhërmi, one of Albania’s most celebrated beach destinations. Famous for its crystal-clear waters, hidden bays, and pebble shores, Dhërmi invites you to relax and enjoy free time by the sea, swimming or simply soaking up the sunshine.

Day 7: Vlora → Zvernec Island → Durres → Tirana
The day begins in Vlora, a city deeply connected to Albania’s modern history. Visit Flag Square and the Independence Monument, where Albania proclaimed its independence on November 28, 1912. Continue through the historic Muradie neighborhood and stop at the elegant Muradie Mosque, a fine example of Ottoman architecture dating back to 1537.
Leaving the city center, head toward the peaceful coastal area of Narta Lagoon to visit Zvernec Island and its Monastery. Surrounded by calm waters and pine forests, this small island is reached by a charming wooden bridge and offers a serene atmosphere rich in history and natural beauty. The 13th-century monastery dedicated to St. Mary stands as a cultural and spiritual landmark, making this a quiet and picturesque stop immersed in nature.
The journey continues to Durrës, one of Albania’s oldest cities. Along the way, pass remnants of the Roman Amphitheater and a historic Venetian Tower, reminders of the city’s long and layered past. Enjoy a relaxing walk along the seaside promenade known as Vollga, a perfect spot for a coffee with views over the Adriatic Sea.
In the late afternoon, drive onward to Tirana, where the day concludes with your final overnight stay in the capital.
Day 8: Tirana (End)
Begin the day in Tirana with a stop at a local bakery to enjoy freshly made byrek, a beloved Albanian specialty and a true taste of everyday life. Continue to the New Bazaar (Pazari i Ri), the city’s culinary hub, where you’ll sample traditional flavors and enjoy a tasting of locally produced raki.
Afterwards, walk to Skanderbeg Square, the heart of Tirana, surrounded by the city’s most important landmarks and museums. Take time to explore the square and learn about its historical and cultural significance as the main meeting point of the capital.
Conclude the experience with a relaxing walk around Tirana’s Artificial Lake, a peaceful green escape loved by locals.
The afternoon is left open for you to wander freely, admire Tirana’s colorful architecture, and explore its diverse neighborhoods at your own pace.
